After a year of releasing bangers with RSPX, Avoidant Records and BPitch Berlin, and being recognized by the City Council and Mayor of his hometown with a "Spirit of Detroit" Award for his global contributions to culture, as well as his work with Love Parade founder Dr. Motte to bring UNESCO Intangible Heritage status to his adopted Berlin, AO is back at his homebase Pure Sonik Records with his “Ask Me No Questions And I’ll Tell You No Lies” EP.

“Black Alert” is a sci-fi inspired banger that started out as a sketch that AO posted on his Instagram, and that post got over 1000 likes. The people spoke, so Alan finished the track for eventual release.

Not long after, AO (under his stage name of DJ T-1000) was playing at the Berlin club RSO for one of Ellen Allien’s “We Are Not Alone” parties, when Adrian Sandoval—known in the scene as Developer—came to the show with friends. They started talking about doing collabs, and it just so happened that AO had some parts to send him when he got back to L.A. The great end result is the Developer Remix!

“Yuuki at the Sake Bar” is named after the beloved manager of Sake 36 in Berlin, our (former?) mid-week hangout.

The bar, co-owned by Richie Hawtin, inspired a 2000s-ish minimalistic groove, so when AO thought of remixers, he reached out to the great M_nus legend (and fellow Michigander) Jon Gaiser, whom he saw play live at Watergate Berlin before lockdown. And man, did he crush that remix!

Bringing it all home was the mastering, by Tim Xavier at Man Made Mastering.

These tracks have been road-tested during Alan's recent North American Tour, and finally on the sound system at Tresor Berlin!
